Network bandwith requirements
Xello is a single page application (SPA), which means that after the browser loads the application, it only makes relatively small requests for data. Once the application is loaded, it will be cached by the browser, and it won't need to be reloaded until the next Xello version is released (typically, once a week.)
As an SPA, Xello makes the greatest demand on the network when it is first loaded by a user, after a new version is released.
If many students are logging in at the same time, and the ISP network is constrained, some may experience a slow startup. To handle these peak times, a bandwidth of 5 Mbps per active student is ideal; 1 Mbps is our minimum recommendation. (1 Mbps per student aligns with the FCC’s minimum recommended bandwidth).
If the number of students that are logging into Xello at a given time of day overloads your ISP capacity, try staggering student login times throughout the day and even encourage students to log on at home.
