Educators and portfolios in Xello 6-12
userEducator Xello productXello 6-12 Time5 minutes

Xello Portfolios lets students highlight the self-exploration and planning they’ve done in Xello and add their own artifacts, like photos, videos, and journal entries. Portfolios can be used across departments to support everything from science projects to talent profiles to work-based learning experiences and more.

Meanwhile, educators can easily view student portfolios and track completion across student groups to ensure graduation requirements have been met. Depending on their access level, educators can also turn on or off the shareable portfolio toggle.

Shareable portfolios

If portfolio sharing is enabled by the educator, students can generate a link and share it with anyone publicly.

By default, the shareable link is turned off for all students. This includes newly added students to a school or region, and 6th grade students added at the beginning of the school year.

Educators who can turn on or off portfolio sharing:

Access level Permission
Administrator access Can toggle at the school or region level through settings
User level access Can toggle individual students and at bulk level
Limited access Can only toggle for students assigned to them
FYIFYI: To learn more about educator access and permissions, check out Educator permissions.

There are three levels at which the shareable toggle can be switched on or off:

  • District or school level
  • Student list or groups
  • Individual student profile

District or s chool level

An educator with Administrator access can enable or disable the toggle for all students in the district or school. From the left menu of their educator account in Xello, they click Settings, and switch the toggle.

If the toggle has been switched to NO, this will remove access to the toggle on student lists and groups, and on individual student profiles. The shareable link will not be available for students when they access Portfolios in their Xello account.

Student list or groups

To turn on or off the shareable toggle at bulk level, educators can select multiple students from a student list and use the Portfolio sharing dropdown.
