What is a lesson sequence?

Lessons are interactive, fully digital, and turn-key. Built-in curriculum and reflective activities help your students build durable skills and knowledge employers value. Most lessons have prerequisite activities that students must complete in Xello before they can begin the lesson, like saving careers, completing assessments, or adding experiences. By automatically bringing in students’ own saved careers, colleges, and interests, lessons provide a completely personalised, seamless, and relevant learning experience.

For a quick overview of Xello's built-in Lessons, check out this short video:

Introduction to Lessons 2:45

Xello provides a recommended year for each built-in, interactive lesson based on the topic area and the complexity of the content. Like other Completion Standards tasks, you can assign a lesson to another year, or shift the order of lesson tasks based on your school, college, or trust's goals and objectives.

You can also Create a custom lesson for additional learning objectives and activities not covered by Xello’s interactive lessons. Like Xello’s built-in Lesson, custom lessons can also have prerequisite activities to ensure that students are completing the work you want them to.

How students access lessons

For students, assigned Lessons will show on their dashboard in their To-do list. The dashboard is the first page they see when they log in to Xello. Lessons that are not required will be marked as “Optional”. Once a student starts a lesson, a percentage progress counter shows students how far they’ve come so they know what they have left to do.

Students can access lessons from previous years, including optional lessons and completed lessons, by opening Home and clicking Lessons.
