Add and edit courses

Access the Courses section of Courses & Diplomas to add, edit, or make courses unavailable to students. Learn how to access and view the list of courses available at your district or school, how to add a new course, or edit an existing one.

noteNote: Only those with administrator access can create or make these changes. To learn more about educator access and permissions, read the article on Educator permissions.

View the full list of courses

To begin adding or editing courses, first access the list of courses. From the Courses page, sort or filter the list, add a new course, or edit an existing one.

To view the course list:

  1. From your educator account, click Features and select Courses & Diplomas.

  2. Click Courses to open the full course list.

  3. To look for specific courses, click in the search box. Select a discipline from the list, search a discipline name, course, or code. Or use the Filters to narrow the list.

Add a new course

Access the Courses page as described above to begin adding a new course.

To add a new course:

  1. From the Courses page, at the top right corner, click Add new course.

  2. Enter the basic information for the course and click Save. You can also Add a course note.

  3. Click the Disciplines tab and associate the course with one or more disciplines or subdisciplines.

  4. Click the Rules tab and use the dropdown menu to include prerequisites, corequisites, and other course restrictions.

  5. If the course can fulfill any subject area diploma requirements, click the Diplomas tab and link the course to the related requirements by clicking the Diploma name and then selecting the related requirement.

Edit a course

If you need to, you can change course details such as the course description, name, code, disciplines, rules, and more.

To edit a course:

  1. From the Courses page, either browse or search the list to find the course you want to edit.

  2. Click on the course name.
  3. Make the desired changes in any or all of the tabs: Basic info, Disciplines, Rules, and Diplomas.
  4. When you've made your changes, click Save.

Set course availability

In some cases, a course may not need to be visible for students when they're creating their plan. If this is the case, you can opt to make a course unavailable for students.

To set course availability:

  1. From the Courses page, either browse or search the list to find the course you want to edit.
  2. Switch the Available toggle to Yes to make it available to students, or No to make it unavailable to students.

    • If you select No, it will confirm your choice. Click OK if you're sure you want to make it unavailable.
FYIFYI: You can also switch the Available toggle directly from the course page. The toggle is located in the top right corner.
