Run reports on Course Planner

Xello's powerful Course Planner tool helps you and your students build a four-year high school course plan. Students use it to track their progress with a graduation diploma or specialization. Xello integrates with your school's information system to ensure accuracy and to make the planning process quick and seamless for all involved.

In your educator account, run reports to assess your students' progress in planning their four-year courses, their diploma and specialization progress, or quickly see a summary of any alerts in your students' course plans.

The following reports are available to run:

Course Planner report Report description
Submission summary A breakdown of the total number (and percentage) of students in each grade by submission status:
  • Incomplete - students' course planner is blank or not all requirements are filled in
  • Complete - all requirements are filled in on students' course plan, but are not submitted
  • Submitted - students' course plan has been successfully submitted
  • Approved by educator - students' course plan has been approved by an educator or counselor
  • Course approval - students' course plan has been approved by a parent/guardian
  • 4-yr plans approved by parent - students' 4-year course plan has been approved by a parent/guardian
  • Not returning - students who are not returning the next year
  • Approved by parent - students' course plan has been approved by the parent/guardian
Student count by courses A list of the courses offered at the school and the students who have added them to their course plans. This report gives you a sense of a course's popularity.
Student count by diploma A list of the graduation diplomas at your school and the students who are assigned to each.
Student count by specialization A list of the specializations at your school and the students who are working towards each.
Specializations by student A filtered list of the students at your school and the specializations they are assigned to.
Courses pending approval A list of students who have added a course requiring approval to their course plan.
Students without preregistration A list of students who have not been assigned to a high school for next year.
Student Course Planner summary An at-a-glance overview of students' course plans.
Graduation plan completion A breakdown by grade of students in your school who are either on or off-track to meet high school diploma requirements.
Critical alerts A list of students at your school with one or more critical alerts on their course plan that need to be addressed
Specialization completion A list of students at your school who are on or off-track to meet their specialization requirements.
Exemptions report A grade-by-grade breakdown of the exemptions to course requirements that students have received at your school.

To run a Course Planner report:

  1. From your educator account, click Reports and select Student work.

  2. Scroll to the Course Planner submission card, and click the Select report dropdown to choose which of the reports you'd like to view.
  3. Once you've opened and viewed the report, you can select a different one from the dropdown at the top left of the list.
TipTip: Narrow the data on the list to zero in on the information. From the top right of the list, click Filters, choose the filters to add and click Apply. To add or remove table columns, or to export the table to a spreadsheet or .csv file, click Data Options.
